Shanghai
What Students Say

NCSH provides an all-rounded experience to immerse into the culture and the business environment of China. You definitely have the ability to make it big and enjoy the experience abroad. Besides improving on your communication skills, NCSH is a good foundation for you should you seek for career opportunities abroad. I'm proud to say that after a year of internship in Shanghai, it has brought me closer to my future career goals. It definitely had provided me the opportunity as an individual to grown from within
-- Sim Shi Tian Suzanne, NUS School of Business, NUS College in Shanghai Jul 06

New Life and New Exposure!!! You will never know how interesting the life can be until you have experienced it; you will never know how big the world is until you have stepped out of the door. NOC has helped me in taking my very first big move towards my dream. It's not tough for the run; it’s taking the first step which is difficult. Once you are out there, you’ll realize that you are getting nearer to your goals in life.
-- Kuay Ying Xuan, NUS Faculty of Science, NUS College in Shanghai Jan 06

NCSH provides the view from within. Being part of the mechanism on a daily basis, I have obtained a realization of the 'why's and 'how's in the functioning of entrepreneurship. This translates into greater clarity of thought on business issues from an insiders perspective...the insight which really matters.
-- Lew Li Min, NUS Faculty of Business, NUS College in Shanghai Jul 05

Simply Life has provided me with a real life opportunity of managing retail business in this buzzing Shanghai consumer market. As the assistant to the general manager, I have the chance to deal with human resources, project management, sales, merchandising and product development matters. This is a magnificent experience for me away from the comfort zone back home.
-- Ng Chee Wee Ron, NUS Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences, NUS College in Shanghai Jul 05

Learnt to speak up when necessary, assert my position when necessary, and back off when necessary. My Mandarin has definitely improved, spoken and written.. *lol* This year had been a lot of ups and downs for all of us, had been particularly trying for myself in the middle.. It feels good to be able to say it made me stronger.
-- Ang Hui Cheng, NUS Faculty of Science, NUS College in Shanghai Jan 05

I learnt more about myself than anything else during this one year NCS programme. I learnt what I'm lacking in and should improve on. I also learnt the importance of people and relationships in China. I think the most important thing is to have fun and expose yourself to many new things over here.
-- Tan Lee Tong, NUS Faculty of Science, NUS College in Shanghai Jan 05

More people, Faster pace, More cosmopolitan and the list goes on... things that I have experienced here are not able to be expressed by just words. Come to me and I'll share with you all the wonderful things I've learnt here. All in all, Shanghai is a place where I can always come back, but this 1 year experience in Shanghai is something that I can never re-visit again.
-- Phang Min Chuan, NUS Faculty of Engineering, NUS College in Shanghai Jan 05

We have got lots to learn from the Chinese, be it survival or entrepreneurial skills. Do take the opportunity to mix with people from all walks of life. It is normally the simple man-in-the-street Chinese who inspires me the most. Coming to Shanghai opened my eyes to the immense opportunities not only in China but throughout the world. I am thankful for this opportunity.
-- Shallene Lim Su Yu, NUS School of Design and Environment, NUS College in Shanghai Jan 05

"NCSH has given me a whole new experience in an environment that thrives on dynamic thinking and situational awareness. I'm so glad I seized the opportunity. All students should too."

-- Quek Wan Ting, NUS Faculty of Engineering, NUS College in Shanghai Jan 04
